Welcome to Rembrandt's Restaurant and Bar home page. I cordially invite you to tour our website. Rembrandt's is located in the Fairmount Section of the Art Museum Area in Philadelphia. We offer romantic fine dining in our elegant dining room and a turn-of-the-century, friendly, neighborhood bar and an adjacent comfortable café. Our banquet facilities feature a striking view of the Philadelphia City Skyline and a fireplace cocktail lounge.  Our prices are reasonable, our parking is ample and we are only a 5 minute walk to the Philadelphia Museum of Art and a 5 minute drive (or 20 minute walk) to and from the downtown area of the 6th largest and most historic city in the United States. Hopefully you will discover Rembrandt's when you come to Philadelphia.

Dutch UmbrellaDUTCH UMBRELLA

Dutch UmbrellaTM is an umbrella sharing system that started in the Fairmount section of Philadelphia. A local bartender often saw his patrons get stranded or wet because they'd forgotten their umbrellas. Rembrandt's is a happy participant of the Dutch Umbrella concept.  So on your next rainy day visit to Rembrandt's, and you've forgotten your umbrella, feel free to take one of ours and be sure to return to any other participant at your convenience.  The Dutch Umbrella group is very active in the Philadelphia Community and their website is worth a visit to see which activities they have planned.

Layer10_0.gif (20235 bytes)FRIENDS OF EASTERN STATE PENITENTIARY PARK
This CDC is actively pursuing an approach to the highest and best use of the area on the eastern and northern borders of Eastern State Penitentiary on Brown and Corinthian Streets.  After years of discussion, disagreement, disillusionment and eventual decision making, it appears that they have arrived at an excellent solution.  Now they need the help and support of the neighborhood to continue their plans. Their website is accessible from here.

FAIRMOUNT ASSOCIATIONS
The Community of Fairmount has two very dynamic organizations created to improve the quality of life in our neighborhood. The Fairmount Civic Association is a member driven organization which charges annual dues of $15.00 per year per person.  The Fairmount Community Development Corporation is a non-profit group whose mandate by their board of directors is to develop community based improvements to our neighborhood. You can join the FCA and take an active part in decisions, events and activities in your neighborhood and by doing so you can also effect the ideas and decisions of the Fairmount CDC . Check in here to find out what is of interest in the area.

OUR MUSEUM NEIGHBORS WEBSITES
These are neighbors of interest in or about the Fairmount and Art Museum Areas. You might want to visit them during your stay in Philadelphia. They include but are not limited to The Eastern State Penitentiary Historic Site, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Rodin Museum, The Franklin Institute, The Philadelphia Zoo, Girard College, The Fairmount Waterworks and many other historic attractions all of which are no more than a 5 minute drive from Rembrandt's or in most cases a 20 minute or less walk.

SCHOOLS AND UNIVERSITIES
Philadelphia is one of the great cities in America for institutions of higher learning. Fairmount has become a bedroom community for most of these schools and Rembrandt's is centrally located to them as well. We consider ourselves fortunate to be represented by the University Of Pennsylvania, Wharton, Temple, Drexel, St. Joseph's, Moore College of Art, Community College, Bache-Martin School, The Philadelphia Mennonite High School and the William Penn Demonstration High School and the Fairmount Arts Center. They all have websites and you can get to them from here.
